Nathan and Julia Bloom coined “golopomo” as a catchword for sustainable living – an acronym for “GO-LOw-POwer-MOde.”
The Blooms have been working at lo-wering the po- of their mo- since their marriage in 1998. They have learned and tried much in their quest to live more sustainably as they run a household and parent two children. The Blooms live in a southern Minnesota prairie town, on a city lot with chickens in the backyard, edibles in the landscape, bicycles in the garage, rain barrels under the downspouts, and big ideas in their heads. They love creating together – especially music (they perform and record as Cabin of Love), food, and useful beautiful spaces.
